DIRECTIONS: Milepost 41.7 on (Historic) Skyline Drive, Shenandoah National Park.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Shenandoah National Park is a beautiful, historic national treasure which includes the scenic 105-mile long Skyline Drive - a designated National Scenic Byway. The Park covers the crest of Virginia's Blue Ridge Mountains for over seventy-five miles. The Appalachian Trail roughly parallels the Skyline Drive and about 101 miles of this trail run through the Park. There are over 500 miles of hiking trails.
PARKING: 1 wheelchair accessible parking space in front of Registration Building. Space 8 ft. wide. Accessible aisle 3 ft. wide. Nearby ramps well marked.
ENTRANCE: Ramp in place, handrails on left. 4 glass entry doors, 36 in. wide, easily open out with clearly marked knob handle located 42 in. above floor.
FACILITIES: Ramp in place to enter meeting facilities. Signage printed in recessed lettering. Menus and/or documents in large print on non-glossy surface. Motorized lift in dining room. Lowered drinking fountains. Luggage handling available. Non-smoking rooms available.
PUBLIC REST ROOMS: In restaurant lobby. Doors 36 in. wide, open in. Turns to enter. Two unisex or companion assisted rest rooms. 19 in. toilet seat height, 16 in. between commode and wall. Sink height 36 in. Wrapped pipes. Accessible stall checked regularly for obstructions.
ACCOMMODATIONS: 4 wheelchair accessible rooms, each with 2 double beds on frames with no obstruction beneath. Unnecessary furniture removed upon request. 60 inch circular clearspace in room and in bath. Bathroom door is 36 in. wide. Wheelchair accessible toilet is 19 inches high with room for a lateral transfer. Grab bar in tub. Sink height 36 in. Wrapped pipes. Handrail with toilet.
RESTAURANT: All tables accommodate guests in wheelchairs. Table height 32 in., aisle width between tables is 42 in. Motorized lift in dining room.
SAFETY PROCEDURES: Wheelchair guests assigned to first floor rooms. Front desk personnel made aware of guests with disabilities, and their type, in case of emergency.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Most credit cards accepted. Check-out Noon. Some rooms with TV. Accessible Limberlost Trail at milepost 43, near Skyland.
