From I-44, I-264 or I-64, exit onto Waterside Drive in downtown Norfolk, follow Waterside Drive as it turns into Boush Street, turn left on Brambleton Avenue, go one block and turn right on Duke Street, then turn right into Museum parking lot. 

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:  Home to one of America’s premier art collections.  Recognized by the Wall Street Journal as one of the nation’s top 20 art museums. The Chrysler Museum of Art houses an encyclopedic collection of more than 30,000 objects spanning almost 4,000 years of art history. Enjoy an extensive collection of European and American paintings, sculpture, and decorative arts; a world-renowned glass collection, Art Nouveau furniture, art from African, Egyptian, Pre-Columbian, Islamic, and Asian cultures.

PARKING:  7 wheelchair accessible parking spaces.

TYPES OF PATHS:  Cement, tile floor and asphalt.

ENTRANCE:  At side.  Ramp is located at entrance.  Two 33 in. doors easily open out with metal pull handle 37 in. above floor.  Steps inside building leading to second level.

PUBLIC REST ROOMS:  Located first floor near gift shop. Doors open out.  Turns to enter.  Accessible stalls have 32 in. wide doors opening out, and handrails.  19 in. toilet seat height, and 10 in. between commode and wall.  Sink height 36 in.  Pipes wrapped.  Accessible stall checked regularly for obstructions.  Rest rooms are identified by a raised figure with pants or skirt on door to designate men or women.

ELEVATOR:  Wheelchair accessible.  By ancient glass gallery.  Serves all levels.  Door width 72 in.  Door stays open 5 seconds.  Audible floor change signal.

SPECIAL SERVICES:
For guests with hearing disabilities,tours in American Sign Language can be arranged, signing interpreters available with advance notice.  Written scripts can be arranged with tour department.

For guests with visual disabilities,special tours may be prearranged.  There are documents in large print on non-glossy surface.

For guests with mobility disabilities,the paths are carpet, wood and tile, and do not have steep grades requiring assistance for persons in wheelchairs.  Lowered drinking fountains.  Wheelchair accessible phone. 

FOOD AND BEVERAGE FACILITIES:  19 tables, height 36 in.  Aisles between tables are well spaced.  Menus are on non glossy surface.

GIFT SHOP:  Aisles 36 in. wide.  Counters 48 in. high.  Clerks assist customers with special needs.  Aisles clear of temporary displays.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:  Accepted credit cards V and MC.  Admission fee.  Call to schedule tours.  Hours:  Sun 1-5; Mon & Tu galleries closed; Wed 10-9; Th-Sat 10-5.  Closed Jan 1, July 4, Thanksgiving and Christmas Days.
