The city of Norfolk is strategically located in the southeastern Hampton Roads region at the mouth of of of the nation's fastest-growing ports. It is located within the Virginia Beach-Norfolk-Newport News Metropolitan Area.

One of the oldest of the cities in Hampton Roads, Norfolk is considered to be the historic, urban, financial, and cultural center of the region. The city has a long history as a strategic military and transportation point. Norfolk Naval Base is the world's largest such base. Nauticus, the National Maritime Center is in Norfolk, too, and features the USS Wisconsin, the world's largest battleship.

Norfolk has become the new port on the Atlantic for cruise ships! What a boon for Virginians and mid-Atlantic residents - who no longer have to fly to to the cruise ships!

The performing and fine arts are a vital part of Norfolk. The Virginia Opera is the official Opera Company of Virginia and its home-base is Norfolk at the Harrison Opera House. The Chrysler Museum of Art, considered as one of the Top 20 museums in the USA, features masterworks from every major civilization, historical period and culture of the past 5,000 years!
