Boykins is located in Southampton County, a rural county with a rich heritage in agriculture and forestry. The county was originally part of "Warrasquoyocke," one of the eight shires making up the Colony of Virginia.
Boykins is at the junction of routes 35 and 186 near the North Carolina state line.
