GENERAL DESCRIPTION: This theatre has served for almost 50 years as a nationally recognized professional, regional performing arts theatre committed to producing the highest quality theatre in Southwest Virginia,
PARKING: 9 designated accessible parking spaces. Located 1st floor Center in the Square, and 5th floor parking garage. Parking spaces 8 ft. wide. Accessible aisles 5 ft. wide. Nearby ramps well marked.
TYPES OF PATHS TO OR AROUND ATTRACTION: Concrete sidewalks. Paths accessible to persons with mobility disabilities. Length of paths 109 ft.
ENTRANCE: Located 1st floor Center in the Square. Ramp provided. 3 glass entry doors, 33 in. wide, easily open out with clearly marked vertical hook grasp handle located 36 in. above floor. Powered door at Market Street entrance.
PUBLIC REST ROOMS: Located 1st floor Center in the Square. Doors 34 in. wide, open in. Turns to enter. Accessible stalls have 34 in. wide doors opening out, and handrails. 19 in. toilet seat height, 10 in. between commode and wall. Sink height 29 in. Accessible stall checked regularly for obstructions.
ELEVATOR: Located 1st floor, Center in the Square. Door width 72 in. Control buttons 43 in. high. Buttons in braille and raised. Door stays open 6 seconds. Audible floor change signal.
SPECIAL SERVICES:
For guests with hearing disabilities, there are amplified audio units and regularly scheduled sign-interpreted performances (the third Saturday matinee of each non-youth Main Stage production). Sign-interpreted tours and loaner copies of scripts are available with advance notice. FM loop Assistive Listening System Available.
For guests with visual disabilities, there are programs on tape, large-print programs and regularly scheduled audio-described performances (the second Saturday matinee of each non-youth Main Stage production).
For guest with mobility disabilities, Mill Mountain Theatre’s Main Stage has six wheelchair spaces, as well as 26 seats accessible to those with mobility impairments who cannot travel up and down steps. Theatre B, on the first floor of the annex known as Center on Church (accessible by ramps behind the parking garage) is a “flexible” space, so accommodations vary, but minimum accessibility seating includes two wheelchair spaces and three seats. (In addition, the restrooms for Theatre B contain fully accessible commodes and sinks.)
FOOD AND BEVERAGE FACILITIES: 1st floor, Center in the Square. Beverages are available in the theatre lobby during intermission ONLY.
