A Playground for Katie and Friends at Huguenot Park

Information: Huguenot Park is a 53-acre park that is generally flat and heavily wooded with pine and hardwood, providing excellent cover for songbirds and other small animals. Park includes an azalea garden, fitness trail, picnic shelters, play equipment, restrooms, tennis and basketball courts, and fields for soccer and football.

Information: This 14.3-acre site is conveniently located off I-95 and Rt. 288. The complex includes tennis courts, picnic shelter, restrooms, the Miracle League field and an accessible playground for children and young adults with physical, visual and emotional challenges.

Information: A 217-acre park with softball fields, soccer fields, lighted football field, muli-purpose fields, tot-lots, a concession building with restrooms, 1/3-mile walking/jogging trail, picnic shelter, community center, a horse ring with stable area, sand volleyball courts, horseshoe pits and a skate park. Park is open dawn to dusk, year round.

Information: 254 acre park has three picnic shelters, nature trails, a tot-lot, horseshoe pits, beach volleyball courts, lighted soccer fields, an amphitheater, open play areas, a seasonal concession stand with restrooms, and 10 miles of trails in Poor Farm open to runners, hikers and mountain bikers.

Information: Located at the entrance to Hungary Creek Middle School, this park features trails, picnic area and shelter, play area and equipment, and a nine-hole disc golf course. Open daily from dawn to dusk.

Information: A 90-acre community park located in the northeastern portion of the county on Wilkinson Road, one mile east of Rt. 301 it has a playground, picnic shelter, and walking trails available for family or group-use year-round andf fishing. The Nature Center is a 6,500 square foot facility featuring a variety of exhibits designed to provide hands-on experiences. The 50,000 gallon aquarium also gives visitors a “fish-eye” view of the underwater world. Open daily from dawn to dusk. The nature center with aquarium is open daily (except Monday).

Information:  A quiet neighborhood park with playground equipment, climbing structure, swings, ADA accessbile play area, picnic tables, blacktop play area, basketball court, and accessible parking.

Lynchburg

Information: One of the most beloved parks in Lynchburg, Riverside Park has over 49 acres of rolling parkland with lovely stands of trees and walking trails that provide views of the wooded hillsides and the river beyond. Recreation opportunities include tennis and basketball, with extensive playground equipment for younger children located in the front of the park. The transportation exhibit in the park includes a train locomotive, tender, and caboose, the Fink Deck Truss Bridge, which is a national engineering landmark, and the hull of the packet boat, Marshall.
