CHATHAM MANOR                                    540-371-0802             120 Chatham Lane, off State Rt. 218 in Fredericksburg

GENERAL DESCRIPTION: This Georgian mansion was a Union headquarters during the Battle of Fredericksburg and is now the park headquarters.This magnificent mansion, its various outbuildings and dependencies, and the historic ground which surrounds it represent a small preserve in which the entire scope of Virginia heritage can be understood and appreciated. Today Chatham is part of Fredericksburg & Spotsylvania National Military Park.

PARKING: 1 wheelchair accessible parking space.

PATHS:  Flagstone to main house.  Asphalt from parking lot to front of mansion is slightly uneven.  Gardens have flagstone paths.

ENTRANCE:  Rear of mansion, via ramp with handrails.  Door 37 in. wide easily opens in with knob handle 36 in. above floor. 

RESTROOMS:   In a separate building. Door width 35 in., door opens in, and turns to enter.  Accessible stall has 31 in. door, handrails and raised seat.  Checked regularly to see no obstructions block access to restroom.

SPECIAL SERVICES:  Audio cassettes and portable tape recorders are available at the Fredericksburg Visitor’s Center.  Some signs are in large print.  Scrapbook of  site available.  Small shelf of books for sale.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:  Pictures and exhibits.  Some signs are suspended from floor to ceiling with wires, wheelchairs need to be cautious.  Hours:  9-4:30, daily.  Closed Jan 1 and Dec 25.
