DIRECTIONS: Old train depot and museum at corner of Mecklenburg and W Main.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:  If you like dolls you will love the Virginia S. Evans Doll Museum located in the Historic Depot. There you will find a collection of over 500 dolls dating back to the 1800's. This collection includes both familiar and exotic dolls from around the world. There is something for everyone and surely you will remember one or more of these dolls from your childhood.

PARKING:  1 wheelchair accessible parking space on Main Street, at front doors, 45’ from entrance.  Space 90 in. wide.  Accessible aisle 60 in. wide.  Nearby ramps well marked.

TYPES OF PATHS TO OR AROUND ATTRACTION:  Brick and asphalt; 48 in. wide, even terrain.  Paths accessible to persons with mobility disabilities.  Length of paths 45 ft., no curbs.

ENTRANCE:  Located inside train museum.  Doorway into doll museum is 24 in. wide.  Doll museum is in one room, 15 ft x 15 ft, with some glass display cases.  Front door from doll museum to outside is 34 in. wide.

PUBLIC REST ROOMS:  In train museum.  Doors 34 in. wide, open out.  No turns to enter.  Accessible stalls 37 in. wide, no doors.  19 in. toilet seat height, 12 in. between commode and wall.  Sink height 31 in.  Accessible stall checked regularly for obstructions.  Unisex or companion assisted rest rooms available.   Paper towels on sink and in mounted dispenser.  Rest rooms are identified by a raised figure with pants or skirt on door to designate men or women.

SPECIAL SERVICES:
For guests with visual disabilities, there are signs with contrasting background, printed on a non-glossy surface. 

evFor guests with mobility disabilities, there are lowered drinking fountains.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:  Open daily t 9-4. No admission fee, but donations accepted. Postcards for sale.  Clean, well-lit areas.  Very friendly, informative and helpful staff.  Also includes antiques and historical artifacts from surrounding area. Building also is headquarters for South Hill Chamber of Commerce and South Hill Community Development Association.
