DIRECTIONS: From I-64 and I-95, take Boulevard exit #78.  Go South 3 miles to Shirley Road and take a left.  Go one block, bear left.  Go one block, turn right onto Shields Lake.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:  From its historical buildings and magnificent gardens to its animal exhibits and rolling lawns, Maymont is a 100 acre Victorian country estate reflecting the splendor of the Gilded Age.

It includes the Maymont House Museum, gardens and carriage collection and now featuring a Nature Center, Children’s Farm and Wildlife Exhibits.  The kids will enjoy, exhibits to view bison, black bear, otters and hundreds of other animals, tram and carriage rides and much more. The new Robins Nature & Visitor Center is fully wheelchair accessible, whereas other areas of Maymont are more limited due to historical nature.

PARKING:  16 designated accessible parking spaces, located Spottswood entrance, Hampton entrance and Robins Nature & Visitor Center.  Accessible parking space 8 ft. wide.  Accessible aisle 5 ft. wide.  Nearby ramps well marked.

TYPES OF PATHS TO OR AROUND ATTRACTION:  Paved roadways and sidewalks, accessible to persons with mobility disabilities.  Steep grades may require assistance for persons in wheelchairs.

ENTRANCE:  Located Robins Nature & Visitor Center.  15 exterior steps, each 6 in. high.  Handrails on left/right.  Ramps provided.  4 entry doors, 36 in. wide, easily open out with pull/push handle 26 in. above floor.  Steps inside at exhibit area.  Each step marked with tactile strip/color change.  Handrails on left/right.

PUBLIC REST ROOMS:  Available without steps.  Doors 36 in. wide, open in.  No turns to enter.  Wheelchair accessible stalls have 36 in. wide doors opening in, and handrails.  19 in. toilet seat height, 36 in. between commode and wall.  Sink height 35 in.  Accessible stall checked regularly for obstructions.  Rest rooms identified by raised figures with pants or skirt on the door to designate men or women.

SPECIAL SERVICES:
For guests with visual disabilities:  Signs in large print, printed on a non-glossy surface.  Increased wattage lighting in dining areas.

FOOD AND BEVERAGE FACILITIES:  In Robins Nature & Visitors Center.  Table height 28 in. 

GIFT SHOP:  Aisles 36 in. wide.  Counters 36 in. high.
