GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Central Virginia's Leading Professional Theatre presents national caliber productions of the great dramas, comedies, and musicals-past, present, and future. It is a small intimate “jewel box” 3-sided theater, with the stage in the center, which provides plays and musicals. The theater is located on the second floor of the building in a shopping strip mall.
PARKING: 4 designated accessible parking spaces, located across the street with general mall parking. Accessible parking space 10 ft. wide. Accessible aisle 5 ft. wide. Nearby ramps well marked.
TYPES OF PATHS TO OR AROUND ATTRACTION: Ramps. Paths accessible to persons with mobility disabilities.
ENTRANCE: Located across street from large parking lot - (accessible spaces not directly across from entrance.) Handrails on right. Ramps provided. 2 entry doors, 35 in. wide, open out with vertical metal pull handle located 32 in. above floor.
PUBLIC REST ROOMS: Located on same floor as theater. Available without steps. Doors 36 in. wide, open in. Turns to enter. Wheelchair accessible stalls have 34 in. wide doors opening out, and handrails. Sink height 30 in. Wrapped pipes. Accessible stall checked regularly for obstructions. Rest rooms identified by raised figures with pants or skirt on the door to designate men or women.
ELEVATOR: Located to the left near entrance to building. Serves all levels. Door width 36 in. Control buttons 42 in. high. Elevator car interior is 64 in. by 61 in. Buttons in braille and raised. Door stays open 6 seconds. Audible floor change signal. Floor sign on exterior in braille.
SPECIAL SERVICES:
For guests with hearing disabilities, written scripts are available.
For guests with visual disabilities, bathroom signs are printed with contrasting background color.
For guests with mobility disabilities, the access ramp available to get into theater is 29 in. wide; door to theater at top of ramp is 35 in. wide. Two or three spaces available for wheelchairs in theater (near top of seats on one side). Railings to one side of stairs going up to seats; and railings near the end of each row of seats.
FOOD AND BEVERAGE FACILITIES: No stairs to access beverage/food service; tables scattered throughout 2nd floor and do not block way of wheelchairs. Table height 29 in. Aisles between tables 44 in. wide. Bar height is 46 in.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Accepted credit cards: V and MC. Box office hours: 9-5 Mon-Fri, 10-1 Sat and 1 hour before all performances. Admission fee. Reserved seats, season subscriptions available. Discounts for students, senior citizens and groups. Performance times: Th-Sat 8 PM and Sun 2:30 PM. Persons with special needs should call before coming.
