Small town Virginia at its best, Chase City is in Mecklenburg County, located in the south of the Central Virginia region and is bordered on the south by the North Carolina state line. Chase City was incorporated in 1873 and was settled by Northerners following the Civil War as a center for the tobacco market.

Buggs Island Lake, Virginia's largest lake with 800 miles of shoreline, John H. Kerr Dam, and Lake Gaston are within minutes of Chase City. where citation fishing, boating, and water sports are enjoyed year round with accessible fishing available.

The MacCallum More Gardens, located on a 5-acre estate in the midst of Chase City, is an unexpeected find for visitors, featuring an arboretum, herb, wildflower, rose and themed gardens as well as nine fountains and eclectic imported works of art.
